Position Description

Software Development focuses on implementing activities such as evaluating and acquiring, designing, constructing, unit testing and supporting software solutions based on business requirements in a variety of design/coding/testing environments, such as graphical user interface, database query languages, report writers, and specific development languages. Software developers consult on the use and deployment of software products and applications, and understand the business environment. Participates on process improvement action items.
The Software Developer is responsible for ensuring that solutions meet business needs by:
• Developing product/solution architecture based on customer requirements written from business requirement document and/or business requirement specifications.
• Converting requirements to functional requirements to develop software code that is accessible, usable, efficient, re-usable, cost effective, maintainable, reliable and installable.
• Designing and modeling program/code for an integrated software product or system that supports re-use, change and integration of various components.
• Constructing software, which meet requirements, promote re-use of software components, and facilitate ease of support.
• Conducting unit tests, tracking problems, and implementing changes to ensure adherence to test plan and functional requirements
• Diagnosing, isolating, and implementing remedies for system failures caused by errors in software code, using knowledge of system characteristics and utilizing software based system maintenance and tracking tools.
• Provide input and technical content for technical documentation for user help materials and customer training.

Education and Experience Requirements

• Years Experience 2 to 4 years in Information Technology (or equivalent)
• Previous Work Experience
• Graduate degree preferred or equivalent work experience for senior positions in Computer Science/Engineering or other related field
• Having Manual Testing experience of minimum 2 years on Windows and UNIX and overall Automation Testing experience of 1 year
• Experience on any of these - Rational Performance test tool, Silk test and Win Runner is a must.
• Advanced experience, certification/training or skills in Process Improvement and software configuration management
• Understanding of customer requirements and analysis

Job Description
The candidate will be an integral member of the team that builds NCR’s award-winning products and services. We are looking for a Test Engineer who has strong computer science fundamentals and solid experience with industry-standard technologies to join our elite team of product testing professionals. We are looking for an innovative candidate who will provide testing support to different aspects of the software development lifecycle:

• Software Design and specification – Prepare test strategy and design test cases
• Test Management: Assist project manager for preparing test plan and effort estimation
• Unit Testing – establish unit test readiness position
• Testing – Rigorous testing to ensure that product meets the business requirements.
• Participating in code and document reviews.
• Report and track Defects for resolution
The candidate will work on the testing of products pertaining to the APTRA™ Activate product suite. The candidate should have 1 - 3 years experience in Software Testing and a degree in CS / IT / SE or equivalent. Involvement of the candidate will span the development life-cycle, including planning, designing, development and maintenance.
Responsibilities
The Associate Test Engineer is responsible for ensuring that solutions meet business needs by:

 Defining the overall test plan for the projects they are assigned to, in conjunction with the software project teams.
 Auditing the early stages of the development lifecycle until Unit/Component Test Complete.
 Defining and executing an effective integration test plan, including supporting documentation.
 Create the software integration test specifications
 Prepare Test Logs, maintain Test Results and monitor Test Progress.
 Identifying, characterising and reporting defects found during testing
 Reviewing technical documentation (e.g. information products and customer training) as required.
 Working with the development teams and other test engineers to encourage the use of best practice test tools and techniques throughout the software development lifecycle.
 Building and developing knowledge of available test practices and tools
 Develop and maintain product knowledge
 Continuously identifying lessons learned and opportunities for improvement during the course of the project and providing feedback to the project team.
